Collaboration with the Institute of Greek Mills and other organizations in Greece)
The Archaeological Research Unit collaborates with other scientific
organizations in Cyprus and abroad, in order, on one hand, to promote its research
programmes, and, on the other, to organize a series of
lectures which aim to make Cypriot archaeology and culture
more accessible to the general public.
To date there have been nineteen series
of public lectures on a variety of archaeological
subjects and covering all periods.
The Unit has also hosted a large number of lectures
and events organized by other Departments of the University of Cyprus, the British Council, the Goethe Institut, the Historical
Society of Cyprus and others.
On the occasion of Nicosia hosting the 1995 European Cultural Month (September-October),
the Unit organized an event with the title "University of Cyprus and Medicine",
which included an exhibition on "Medicine
and Health in Ancient Cyprus". The event was held
in cooperation with the Department of Mathematics and
Statistics, the Department of Computer Science, the Ministries
of Health and Economics, the Government Department of
Computer Services and the Cyprus Institute of Neurology
and Genetics.
On the
occasion of the Conference "Σταμπωτά και Τσεβρέδες", the Unit organized an exhibition
of printed and embroidered fabrics in collaboration with
the Popular Historical Museum of Larissa, The Pierides
Foundation (Larnaca), the
Levention Municipal Museum of Nicosia and private individuals.
Moreover, the institutions collaborating in the Programme
“Thrace-Aegean-Cyprus” organized, parallel to the conference
“Water in traditional power producing installations
of the Aegean, from Thrace to Cyprus”, a photographic exhibition on the same theme, at Famagusta
Gate.
